Anne Bunce Memorial 5K, MAGP race #6

This past Friday evening, the weather was breezy and cooler than normal for mid June in New Hampshire. It was good weather for keeping bugs away and good weather for running. While the race administrators were putting on more clothes, 26 runners and walkers raced around Granite Lake in Munsonville. Peterborough’s Harrison Kim won the race with two thirteen year old runners close behind. Thirteen year old Amarah Lapinsky of Jaffrey was won first place for the women. After the race, everyone retreated to the Chapel on the Lake for a lot of great food. We also heard from John Bunce talk about Ann Bunces joy and successes with running. Thanks to Chapel on the Lake for letting us use their quaint and beautiful church for our race. Thanks to everyone who brought all the great food and thanks to the participating runners and walkers. All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Assoc. in memory of Ann Bunce.

Caddyshack Classic 5k trail race, MAGP race #5

On a beautiful, clear day at the base of Mount Monadnock, seventy six runners of varying ability took to the trails of the Shattuck Golf Course in Jaffrey, NH.  Following a 5K course that has served as the Conant cross country home course, racers were able to take in the splendor of spring in New Hampshire out of the scenic back nine.

One person not slowing for the scenery was Mascenic’s Landen Vaillancourt, who scorched a course record of 17 minutes, 1 second a day after participating in the New England championships with his 4x800 meter relay teammates.  Monadnock’s Tyler Hebert and Monadnock alum Dawson Adams rounded out the top three. In the women’s race, Monandock’s Sadie Lorenz would finish first, in 24 minutes, 41 seconds. Followed by Kristen Seitz and Gretchen Post. The race has a team component as well, with the Monadnock A team winning for the boys and Mascenic winning for the girls, with Monadnock winning the mixed relay as well.
