Join us for the 3rd Annual Hugs From Vets Trail 10Kish, filled with excitement and adventure. This race goes back a few years, when Henniker Brewing introduced the Miles & Miles IPA. Ever since the Hugs from Pat NEIPA was placed on tap and sold in beautiful cans, I always said that when COVID is over, we have a “Hugs Run."
The race covers trails along the Contoocook River, Army Corp Land, A little road terrain for the speed chasers, and just pretty views. Each year the race varies to be a length of 10Kish. The start and finish is at Henniker Brewing and the finish includes replenishment foods and a Hugs Pour.
There are many wonderful races that support Veterans all over NH and the US. This race is as unique as the next one. And this one is very special to me and an important fundraiser for small communities. The race volunteers are veterans from the Local Legion Post, College Students, High School students, Henniker PD, and local runners and supporters. We also have really great sponsors such as Delta Dental, NEC Veteran Affairs, NEC Adventure Bound, Henniker Brewing, and more. Timing is done by Pinnacle Timing (Veteran Owned). Unique overall winner prizes and age category prizes. And you can't forget the swag in the bag.
The first Hugs race we held was “Hugs from Brett” in 2023 after my late husband. Both Brett and I are Veterans of the US Army. Since his passing in 2022, I have become more involved in the support of Veterans within our community. I have always been involved in supporting veterans, but finding the time to honor him and create good from something sad is part of the healing.
