Monadnock Area Grand PRIX is back in 2018
The Milers are reviving the Monadnock Area Grand Prix (MAGP) race series with some new races, point system, and great year end prizes. We are committed to the local races and the causes they support. Details are here.
There are 6 area sponsors helping to make this possible. Ted’s Shoe and Sport, Beeze Tees, C & S Wholesale Grocers, 7 Maples CampGround, Liberty Mutual and Icespikes, Inc.
We have 12 races committed to the series, with at least 2 -3 more pending. We will top it at 15. They are in 8 different towns, April through October, 5k -10 miler.
The point system will be strictly on participation. There will be sign in sheet at each race for those wanting to be counted in the series. There is no cost to the runners to participate.
Awards will be given to those who ran in half, three quarters and all races. They will include quality MAGP tech shirts, caps, and gift cards. At year end we will have a cookout to award the prizes.
We are kicking the series off on April 7th at the Spring Fling 5K. This is at the CONVAL High School, as a fundraiser for the Cross country team.
MRM acquires AED
In January the MRM club purchased a new automated external defibrillator (AED). The AED was brought to the first two chillers and will be at all the remaining chillers. In the event a runner appears to need AED, there is a course of action the Chiller race managers will follow. For members that are interested, we will be offering practical training (not licensed training) on using the AED and basic first response. Please stay tuned.
How to Survive the Most Frigid Winter Runs
Below is an article from Outside magazine on running successfully in frigid temperatures.
“.. it’s very rare for people to reach the limits of their cold tolerance if they’re appropriately dressed.”

Ann Bunce
On a very sad note Ann Bunce passed away on November 3rd. She was a runner, triathlete, past Miler and a very cool lady.
On Saturday December 2nd, we are hosting a “RUN FOR ANN”. This is a 3 mile run beginning and ending at the Meetinghouse (church) on Main St in Hancock. The start time is 9:00.
The race committee is putting this together. We would appreciate Club members to bring baked goodies or fruit to help feed hungry runners and friends of Ann's. Anyone who has pictures of Ann please bring them. If you want to know what is needed or have any questions please email Ginger at ginger3502@myfairpoint.net or call at 525-3502. You can also contact Rachel at rlakin@myfairpoint.net
